Sometimes you happen upon a scene that makes you feel lucky to be alive. This was one of those places. I was in the Stanley, Idaho area and hiking in the mountains and amazed at how I was surrounded by potential painting. I turned a corner and this is what I saw. I quickly made some notes and took some pictures and did a small watercolor study before continuing on my journey. This is what came from that trip.
This painting is inspired by the California Impressionist painters like Guy Rose and others. The painting is painted on cotton triple primed canvas with professional grade oil paint. The canvas is stretched on 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ professional wooden stretcher bars. The painting will be delivered in an enforced cardboard box crate with high-density foam for protection.
