Aspens of Spring

High in the Mountains in early June I was hiking with a mission find the most beautiful little grove of Aspens I could find. I came over a small ridge and there they were in the shallow valley below. I hike down and into the small glen of trees. The light had just burned through the light cloud cover and illuminated the area with an intense yellow light. I quickly made sketches and notes to capture the scene. After taking a couple of photographs I made a small painted study, from this the larger studio painting was created. This painting is done in oil using impressionist colors and very direct brushwork. This image will be a wonderful enhancement to your home or office.
